GRX crank chain line is a pile of poo (IMO), its very noisy in the low gears. Given my frame does not need the wide clearance and I want to improve this (previous EA90 cranks were much better, why did I change!). Option one is spacers, about 3mm's worth, works but looks crappy. Option 2 is a ring with more offset. The only one I have found is the pricey garbaruk item https://www.garbaruk.com/shop/garbaruk-chainring-for-shimano-grx-843. Does anyone know of other decent quality rings with more offset than stock? Looking for 40t.

This Absolute Black one has 1.5mm offset (towards the frame). I believe it's oval, would that be a problem?

-- Edit --

Sorry, I've just spotted that it says 'apart from GRX' (although that appears to be a review), seems a bit daft for a gravel ring.

I'd spotted that Wolftooth one but discounted it as those cranks it lists compatibility with mount the chainring on the other side to GRX (ring is outside of tabs where GRX tabs are outside of ring). Maybe worth emailing them an confirming. I wonder if the Absolute black is apart from GRX for the same reason. I'm not adverse to oval.

Spacers are the cheap/easy option, they just leave a large gap.

I use a Garbaruk chainring. They come with either a small or large off set iirc.

The Wolftooth ring won't work

Confirmed by wolf tooth support as expected.

Thanks @Kuco how do you find it? I'm slightly put off by reports of them being noisy.

Definitely noisy when new, but getting quieter as it wears in. I’ve been unable to ride my crux as much as I would like to see how much quieter it will go but hopefully that should change soon. Over summer rode some really bumpy bridleways and it never dropped the chain once.

oh and I ordered mine from bike inn as garbaruk always seemed out of stock.

Thanks for the detail. I nearly ordered from bikeinn yesterday but by the time I'd decided someone else had bought it! They have a 38t but think might be a little small (though would reduce the time I use the lowest great which might not be a bad thing).
