Considering fitting a Shimano GRX 2x chainset to bike which currently has 105 R7000 on it, I know I also need the front mech too but does anyone know if the standard bottom bracket would be ok , thanks .

BB will be fine. Can I ask why you are changing? If it's for lower gearing then trying a larger cassette might be most cost effective. I've just installed a 105 compact crankset and a 11-40T cassette using a R8000 rear mech. The R7000 rear mech should work too.

I thought I might put it on for the Ronde Von Calderdale sportive next year, it has crazy cobbled climbs with gradients over 30% in places . I also thought it might work well with a closer ratio cassette like a 11-25 for more normal riding conditions.

You might not need the GRX front mech, I certainly didn’t. BB wise It is a direct swap for your road crank.

Thanks for the replies, I’ve solved the problem - bought a Cube Nuroad Race with 15% off in a Black Friday sale. It’s got a GRX groupset , could do with selling a bike or two now 😀.

It starts with a small upgrade and before you know it, it's a new bike!

I feel your pain!😆
