I've just connected the hoses to my brifters only ever having done mtb brakes before. I don't have a crow's foot attachment for my torque wrench so just tighten the compression nuts using an 8mm spanner.

Unlike the mtb compression nuts, the road ones have a flange that looks like it wants to butt up against the hose port. However, using similar force to that which I use with the mtb nuts leaves them several threads away from contact & I'm not sure I want to tighten them down much more.

Are the flanges meant to contact the levers & do I have a problem (1st time quick joint user too)?
