I have a new bike on the way and i'd like to remove swap the bars stem shifters & deraillers from my old bike (9speed). & sell the new grouspet (10sp).
I'll be using the new chainset (& rings) so was thinking new cassette/chain required - the other ones will be past saving.
Recabling means new bar tape by the time i add all this up I may as well keep the new kit.
Is there anyway to do it cheaper.
Whats the 10sp worth? Is it worth flogging? New stuff is always nicer
is new tiagra nicer than old dura ace/ ultegra mix. I'm not convinced. It's certianly heavier.
It's probaly worth exactly what i;d spend on 9speed stuff, cables and bar tape.
I'm on the current tiagra, word from in here was it's about the same as the previous 10sp 105 group. No issues with it at all but I'm not really a roadie, pedals go round wheels move and all that
Flog it all and buy new 105/slightly older ultegra. I went from 6700 to 5800 and it's better, gears, brakes and general feel is much improved, lever throw for changing is reduced as well. Might get new 8000 brakes for a bit more power but not fussed about upgrading anything else.
New Tiagra is better than 10 speed 105.
You'll get a half decent amount (couple of hundred at least if you're including brakes and chainset) for the full groupset.
A new 9 speed cassette and chain won't cost much. You deffo need a an old polished silver chainset with your 9 speed stuff.
You'll get cables with the new groupset. Bar tape is easy enough to undo and rewrap if its on a new bike that's not been used. Just done exactly the same myself.
