Looking at various groupset offerings on ebay (1x11 XT or SRAM GX) direct from China and Taiwan. Has anybody ordered one and are they legit? Do I need to be careful? Is there a fake market in components or are they just cheaper because it is direct?
Potential customs import charges and 20% vat to pay.. Probably not worth the hassle. How much cheaper are they?
I've often wondered this. Was looking for some trp spyres and there are loads of OEM sets direct from Taiwan available. They're not cheap enough to be obviously fake but they do make me suspicious. In the end decided not to go for it but didn't buy from anywhere else either.
I'd be very surprised if they were fake.... But you'd be taking a risk with import duty.
You'd be covered by EBay if it turned up as a brick in a box (if you know what I mean), especially if you pay by credit card.
