Without giving away who has what etc etc for obvious reasons....anyone recommed a good anchor for a friend ?
Thanks
torc ground anchors are very good, not cheap though.
The Defiant is a bit of a beast to http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/4Xxtxe220572/Anchors-and-Locks/c-1-71/
I'd talk to Almax, as linked to above. They're really helpful guys and know their stuff. Let's face it, you only really know if a ground anchor works once someone tries to rip it out of the ground.
Any D lock. Before putting my shed up I put a D lock in to the ground covered in concrete U way up then drilled 2 small holes just the diameter of the lock in the floor of the shed and put the shed on top with about 1" of the U poking through.
I then have 2 steel cable lock things http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_701575_langId_-1_categoryId_165637 this type of thing that easily go over the ends of the U. These go round bikes and garden equipment.
Also got an alarm on the door and beefed up hinges etc.
The outside of the shed as nothing more than a normal crap shed lock as I dont want to draw attention to the shed.
The Police told me when I got a series of bikes nicked that pro theives will get your bike whatever if they are serious, all you can do is slow them down and make as much noise as possible, hopefully they will get bored, or the noise will alret some one.
A ground anchor is only as good as the fixings holding it down or the concrete its set into.

Why not set a 'U' lock in the concrete, and attach it to your bikes using a long heavy-duty cable threaded through an old drum kit? You're bound to hear them that way.
Thought cable locks were best avoided, matter of seconds to breach even without the 42" croppers
Trust me i know, but d locks and other inferior ground anchors are not worth shit. if you are ging to do it, and set it in concrete, do it properly first time round.
Dont scrimp on chains and padlocks either.

and one of these to attach bikes to it and a good padlock

These guys are good.
Yes I am aware that the cables wont stop a tooled up thief, but it will put off a chav.
The Police said a tooled up pro bike thief will just cut through the frame if they think the parts are worth nicking.
Theres no point spending £50 on a ground anchor and which the thief doesnt bother looking at and just decides to cut through the chain/bike frame you have it attached to!
My setup cost about £20, the bikes are locked up which satisfys insurance, and I doubt a chav would even make it inside my shed. If anyone gets inside then your bikes are as good as gone anyhow, all you can do is slow them down.
