Any one use a SRAM gripshift, and if so......
-
1. Front, rear or both?
2. What sort of riding?
3. What sort of bike?
-
Cheers

Both, XO second hand on Anthems. Light weight and very positive shifting.
I run with ESI grips cut down and they work rain or shine. Riding style - I prefer ups to downs.

Yup

run gripshifts on the tandem and both Mrs TJ and I use them on our commuters

ON a 2x9 set up its nice to be able to trim the front mech, its nice to be able to shift straight from one end of the cassette to the other. Neater and cable runs tidier.

1. Front (easy to trim the mech)
2. Radgnarly
3. All the ones with a front mech (except the roadie)

1 - X9 shifter, rear only (1x9), run with the short (twist shift specific) ODI Ruffian lock-on grip.
2 - all types of riding.
3 - this type of bike -

Yes, me. SRAM 9sp X0s, I fitted them after yet another pair of triggers exploded for no apparent reason. Also some paleolithic X-ray gripshifts from the darkest 90s that are still going strong on my commuter after... (*counts*) ...16 years.

1. Both.
2. XC, I suppose? I do at least try to pedal uphill at any rate.
3. The X0s are on a Cotic Soul at the moment, the old ones on the same Marin Pine Mountain they came fitted to.

I also run triggers on my other geared MTB. Both types of shifter have advantages and disadvantages. Best things about gripshift are being able to dump loads of gears quickly, being able to trim the front mech* and being almost indestructable. Worst thing is it's harder to shift and brake at the same time, not usually a problem though, you learn to look ahead and shift in advance. Anyone who says they ghost shift is a clumsy idiot who holds their bars too tight.

*N.B. Newer versions of the X0s don't seem to have this facility for some insane reason.

I'm running a Sram Attack rear 9spd gripshift on my gravity bike.
I broke a few Shimano shifters against trees/rocks/generally being crap and falling off and decided that I'd try gripshift as there's less stuck out and I love it.

Bike is an '06 sx trail with 200mm 888's on the front.

Use them front & rear on Xc & Dh. Have done since about 1995 when my rapidfires would explode at the slightest impact in a crash. I did do a lot of rocky trails over Dartmoor.
Never had one fail & easy to strip down & fit new grips if needed. Only downside is in the wet & mud it can be tricky to shift, but we are talking Mayhem biblical conditions mind 🙂
