I've got bikes with SRAM X0 9-speed Grip Shift and X0 9 speed rear derailleur, and really like that combination.

I've got another bike with a 10-speed cassette and Shimano mech and trigger shifter. I'd like to change this to Grip Shift with matching derailleur, but I'm finding it difficult to find 10-speed SRAM stuff, or the older 9-speed.

I'm generally bemoaning the fact that quality 9 speed stuff doesn't seem to be readily available - eg the X0 range, and things like XTR cassettes etc.

I just need something like an 11-32 cassette on the rear. Is my best option trying to track down the old stuff, and if not, what's the current shifter and mech which would work - is it 11 or 12 speed? I thought most of these have a wide-range single cassette (eg 1x12), but that's not what I need on this bike.

A 11 or 12 speed SRAM gripshift (x-actuation) will work with a 10 speed Shimano MTB mech.
There are a few threads on mtbr about it.
I've just picked up a nx gripshift to try it out.

I can offer you a pair of X0 10 speed lever shifters. Unfortunately my X0 9 speed grip shift have been stuck on the turbo bike for years and the rubbers have about worn out!

If you just want a right hand 10 speed I've got an xo gripshift and a really good xx rear mech I've taken off the bike this evening, got a 10speed cassette and new (2 rides) chain for it too

Thanks!

It's interesting to know about the X-Activation - I'll have to read up on that.

Thanks, @welshfarmer, but I think I'd prefer Grip Shift for this bike.

@whytetrash I'll send you a message. I'll have to dig the bike out and make sure it is actually 10-speed!
