I'm going to be fitting a new cassette today but was unsure about whether or not to apply any grease or suchlike to the freehub body before I fit the cassette?
Is it worth it or a waste of time?
BTW, it's a Hope hub if that makes any difference.
little point.
Deffo do it. It can't hurt, and may well aid removal. I always use coppa slip, but grease will be fine

I do but only to stop the freehub from corroding. Although the chances of that are slim but old habits with steel freehubs die hard.
Yes - a smear of grease will help with removal and it can't do any harm.
If it's an alloy Hope freehub body, it will be worth whipping the cassette off every couple of months to see if the cassette is eating into the freehub body splines.
The stainless steel Hope freehub bodies are a better bet in this respect.

It's already started to chew up the freehub a little. I think I'll be getting a steel one next time round.
