Uk Gravity Enduro and Enduro1 series look brilliant
And I havevery keen to get into this for sometime now but they are all 4+ hours drive away.
Are there any races around Lonon and the south east?
If not is any one interested in getting something started, perhaps a mini downhill enduro?
Wheres QECP in relation to you? A mate has done a few Enduros there and really enjoyed it. That can't be more than 4 hours away from you... Its 4 hours away for me and I'm in Yorkshire!
QECP, near Petersfield... but you've missed the Day and Night Enduro, and the 27th July race is sold out, so maybe next year!
Looks good, thanks chaps.
Hopefully I'm not asleep next year,
But I will do the next best thing and see if they need any volunteers on the 27th.
For an interesting 'strava' eye view of the QECP Day and Night Enduro race... go to http://tinyurl.com/qd8t4jv and hit PLAY!

I also have contacts of others thinks of getting races started in the SE, if they do a SE series is possible but that is way in the futures for now. As per this year we(QECP) will be looking a 2 enduro for 2015. I did offer to QECP to Enduro 1 before but they were not interested. If you are thinking about traveling for races the UKGE ones are great and the Mini enduro series is also very good.If not is any one interested in getting something started, perhaps a mini downhill enduro?

Probably because hills big enough are +4 hours away...

OK, so it's over here tick-and-banjo county rather than the home counties, but it's not that far to drive.
That statement is not true. There are the hills just need the right people involved to run the events and work on developing the sites. And I havevery keen to get into this for sometime now but they are all 4+ hours drive away.

For example I raced a really good Mini enduro at FoD this year but all the stages had less elevation drop than stages 1 & 2 at the QECP Day and Night enduro.
That race only came about because the local mountain bikers work with the land owners over a number of years and built a level of trust.
There is a huge pool of riders/racers in the SE that want to race, one of the reasons the QECP Enduro sold out in 19 hours this year.
I know similar partnership are trying to get off the ground in other locations in the south east.
You only got to look at the DH races SE vs SW what can be achieved on a local level.
2014 DH:
SE 16 Races
SW 13 Races
2014 Enduro:
SE 2 races
SW 11 races
The SW has a great enduro scene it would be good if we could replicate some of that in the SE.

True, but he still has a point, there aren't many (any at all?) 300m+ hills in the SE. Not that you can't race on smaller hills, but it's not quite the same. A bit of a supply and demand problem, 'oop-north theres probably hundreds of hillsides where you could potentialy hold and enduro race, but there's not the number of riders to suppourt it. 'darrrn-sarrfff there's hundreds (thousands? tens of thousnands?) of riders who want to race, but there arent the places to do it.
[tongue in cheek and not demeening the organisers efforts] Basilcaly, I'm saying in the politest way possible, I'd only race downhill at QECP if I was desperate and it was the last hill on Earth.[/tongue in cheek and not demeening the organisers efforts]
For the OP: get together with mates, make a weekend of it and go up north, they have pies, gravy, electicity and running water now and everything!
You really don't need 300m of elevation for a good race. UKGE is proof of that, Afan this year and Eastridge last year where ace events.

Yep. I use to live in the SE and now live in the Tweed Valley so well aware of the topography - check out the Enduro World Series stages we had last month.
Just read about the tweed Valley. Wish there was something like that in the SE.
Keep doing what you are doing Scot, missed both events this year but will be on the ball next time.
As for the lack of venues in the SE I do agree but it is important to encourage and support the guys putting on any sort of event.
I for one and happy to have some pedally stages, kinda makes it more Enduro/overall rider friendly, rather than a set of DH tracks connected by a gentle bimble, not that I dislike DH tracks.
