I've got a lot of technical questions to get out of my system this week, clearly...
The GD Turbo on my dad's Five has got quite a lot of play in it - doesn't affect the performance, but rattles about and is generally annoying, so clearly time to replace the bushings and shim/ key things.
I ordered a service kit from GD with fresh bushings and shims, however, the kit only includes 2 of the 'inside tube shims' - looking around online, it seems that all the other gravity dropper posts have just 2 of these shims, but the one I'm working on definitely has 3.
I can't find any info about a post with 3 shims - is mine the only one?
I suppose I could just buy another service kit and use one of the shims from that, but that still leaves me with a bushing to replace.
Any ideas?
Cheers
never seen one with anything other than 2 tbh so I cannot help you - have you e-mailed GD for advice as they are excellent at answering
Likewise I've only ever seen them with 2. GD are a good company to deal with, as long as you can keep them on topic anyway, I always seem to have to have a lengthy dialogue about how much they want to come to scotland to ride before i can get any actual info out of them 😉
Invite them over from midge season and find the boggiest route you can 😉
As an aside (alright, blatant hi-jack) how long do they generally take if you send them back for service? mines a couple of weeks now and i'm missing it.
The newer 30.9 posts have 3 shims (mine does). GD mentioned something about it being better for 'larger gentlemen'. I'd shoot them a mail about it. If you're lucky, they'll probably send you the extra parts needed.
