ive just aquired a bike with one of these on it.

this might sound like a really daft question, but whats it for?
in all my (many) years, i cant think where i would have used this.

When you push the lever the bike sprouts wings and accelerates to Mach 1. Or you could ride the bike and find out for yourself...

Give it a go, you'll probably see what it's for. If you don't, then sell it but they're addictive... (assuming it's got a remote on it anyway, the Descender model is pretty pointless)

its got a lever on the bars to drop and raise if thats the remote?

this must look funny to some. but ive never used one. so the 'whats it for' question was genuine.

Highest position for climbing so you get most power

First drop position for singletrack to get you weight a bit lower for stability.

Lowest position for descending to get you saddle out of the way and be able to move the bike around more under you.

I use mine more often than I change gear.

Oh I see, sorry- I thought you meant "Isn't this a bit pointless" rather than actually "what does it do"- apologies!

There can be a bit of a knack to activating the up and down at the right time, especially with the Classic, but no more so than changing gear. Feels great to be able to move around a bike fluidly without the saddle getting in the way but still be able to pop it up for seated pedalling.
