Hi all,

Got a bit of time to do a quick bikepack trip this weekend. I will likely arrive Peaks sometime mid afternoon on Saturday, have time for a few hours riding, wild camp somewhere, few hours riding Sunday morning, then need to head off again.

Not really sure on mileage, maybe 20-30 miles each day? Depending on how hilly.

Current thinking is head towards Ladybower/Derwent, leave van in a layby on the A57 or nearby town. Ride something, not sure. Wild camp down on the bank of Ladybower or Derwent. Then another ride in the morning, before back to the van and heading off.

Any thoughts on the above? Any recommendations for routes? Would be good to have easy options to shorten or extend mid-ride depending on how I feel. Also quite happy just following various bridleways around, but would be good to have some idea in advance on areas to avoid or head for, fun descents, terrible climbs etc!

I will be on a CX bike with 38mm tyres.

Thinking something like this for one of the rides?

Is getting up Kinder Scout for the other ride realistic?

Thanks,
Duane.

You can ride round the top of the Kinder plateau but it's a bit of a project (plus no legal access in walker central so defo an evening ride not Sun morning) - the west side is very rocky and intermittent riding, but the south side along Edale is better. Something to tick off once in your life because it's interesting landscape, rather than a good gravel ride. So prob not what you are looking for if you're visiting the area.

That link would be a good gravel ride.

Great, thanks for the info. Will definitely try do that loop in the link - probably try do it Saturday, and if I can't finish it in one go I can camp somewhere along the way.
