As above really , I hit a pothole on a bikepacking trip in the summer and dinged my stock Bontrager rim . It still holds air but seems a good excuse for an upgrade. Can only really see DT Swiss G1800 or Hunt equivalents in my price range .
My last 4 bikes have all had DT Swiss and they are hard to beat . Any advice or other alternatives would be appreciated , will be running Scwalbe Ultrabites 45mm in the winter and 43mm Gravel Kings in the summer.

Got hunt aerowides on my road bike, DT Swiss on my Xc race / gravel bike. My Hunt's haven't been an issue but I've heard of many spoke nipples and holes cracking. Treat yourself to DTS on some Bitex hubs. I can hit you up with a good wheelbuilder operating from NI if you want. Quality builds. 🙂

To add. I have xr391 25mm rims on Bitex BX211s. I run a 43mm panaracer SK plus gravelking. Very fast rolling. Minimum tyre size the rim will take according to charts, but feels nice.

If you're in NI I'd have a look at Scribe wheels. Pretty much the Hunt model but based in NI.

I know someone who was thinking along the same lines - they went for DT rims on Bitex hubs from Ryan Builds wheels and has been really happy with them. I’d be tempted to do something like that unless they come in way higher prices than Hunt.

I’ve got Hunt 4 Seasons Road wheels - they’ve been decent really. I mangled in a rim in a pot hole first ride out - but I also bruised my toes against the end of my shoes hitting the pothole - so it was with a lot of force. The crash replacement rim arrived in a few days and I got a bike shop to re-rim it. A few months after I started snapping the odd spoke so I re-spokes it myself with ACI double butted spokes. Since then it’s been perfect. I’d buy Hunt road wheels again as the weight vs price is decent and the hubs make a nice noise - plus they look nice. Every now and then I have a sneaky look at the carbon road wheels but I don’t use my road bike enough to justify the cost.

I wouldn’t buy Hunt mtb wheels as DT Swiss rims are better and DT Swiss / Hunt hubs are better

I’m running Hope pro 4 hubs on DT Swiss GR531db absolutely bulletproof, I’d consider Hope hubs with your rims of choice.

DT every time. Engineering over marketing rather than the other way round.

Thanks folks , really cant fault the DT's I've had and I'd choose them over the hopes and stans flows I;ve had over the years.

Have a look at Strada - their gravel disc wheels use DT rims and Miche hubs, handbuilt. Got multiple pairs and they're all spot on.
