looking for a new frame/bike that will accommodate 2'' tyres.
possibly to build with flat bars rather than drops.
everything seems to have drops.
idea's appreciated.
Sounds like you want an old mountain bike.
He's right you know
Usual question - what sort of price range are we talking here?
Perhaps something like a Salsa Fargo would tick the boxes? They're not cheap though.
Voodoo Marasa or the new Agwe, maybe replacing the alloy fork with a carbon job?
Kona probably do something along those lines…

Sounds like a carbon 29'er to me
http://konaworld.com/sutra_ltd.cfm I think this is the sort of thing you want?
or what about a Surly Karate Monkey?
double post
that kona looks ideal, with a flat bar fitted.
So, you want a road bike, that takes 2" tyres and has a flat bar? So a 29er hardtail, yeah?
So a 29er hardtail, yeah?
yes but no. I want something with a rigid fork.
Looks nice?
Jase, just found that on salsa's site. looks perfect.
Hey Ton,
The one that I'm aware of is Open Cycles - UP. It;s a CX bike that will take 2.2 29er tyres.

Not cheap, but VERY VERY nice.
mk1 swift? a peregrine or do you not want to go back? 🙂
I was going to suggest the Alpkit Sonder Camino but it will only take up to 47mm tyres in 650B flavour.
Second option is the Singular Swift though that's more in the traditional XC type MTB style. The Kite will only take up to 42mm tyres.
You want a rigid 29er with steep angles like the Surly. I have something similar it's great on road and off.
If you want to be flash, try a Shand Bahookie.
I'd been looking at that salsa as it happens it's meant to be very heavy if that bothers you
I've been looking for something to fit all the stuff from my boardman hybrid that's a bit more stable feeling as the boardman feels a bit wobbly to me. That I could use on the road and the rough.
I'd have bought it if I were sure my existing stuff would fit but I'm not sure it would
I was also looking at rigid 29er but they are a bit, well a mountain bike
Surly Ogre?
This popped up on my Facebook page today, quite like the look of it https://www.orangebikes.co.uk/bikes/speedwork-s/2018
I'm confused? What's the diff between a rigid 29er mtb and a flat-bar monstercross? Wheelbase? B/B height?

You could always build some 29er wheels if you want ~2" tyres, rather than 4-4.8" 😈
Malvern most /all cross/tour/hybrid have shorter reach to use with drops normally about 60mm and usually a bit shorter wheelbase, amongst other things.
I think that's why my current flat bar boardman feels wobbly, as it appears to be the same frame as the cx just with flatbars. My old pompino with flats felt the same too
Jones diamond frame with unicrown fork, original geometry version. Ideal big-guy rigid gravel tourer.
; )
😆
What Chunky posted was exactly what I was talking about. Yours, Chunky?
