Hi all
I’ve a Kinesis Pro Six cross bike that I really don’t get on with, It’s not the bike, it’s me, I’ve finally admitted to myself that I’m not designed for race like geometry.
I’d like something that is comfortable for long/multiple days riding/bikepacking/pootling on the road (I have a Fargo for off-road bikepacking) Something a bit more upright/long head tube
Cheap (£500 max of course expect suggestions for used frames to look out for in this budget)
Something I can just swap all the parts from my Kinesis over (so bog standard QR’s/hub sizes/threaded bb/27.2mm post etc)
Over to you....
Mmm Ti. Possibly (as with your other suggestion) I’ll need to look at the specs
Friend of mine stuck woodchippers, a short stem and as many spacers as he could get away with on a pro6 and it made a huge difference for him. Worth a try?
Already there with the stem and spacers, ‘spose won’t hurt to try the bars, there’s a bloke I see riding locally with Jones loop bars on his
Have you looked at a Fearless Vulture?
I built one up at xmas, looks as if it ticks the boxes for them duties,I absolutely love mine, its everything my 2015 cdf wanted to be and more some..the whole experience
of purchase from Tim @ Fearless was second too none,I believe he has some more offerings in the pipeline.
There was one for sale in the classifieds a few weeks ago,was surprised tbh, mines definitely a keeper.
Fearless fanboi here.
If only I could post pics, ive 1x,cowbell 2s,40mm tyres at present but can be made more road,I bought some carbon forks but havent got around too install as it rides perfectly with the 401s.
Raleigh Maverick, the 631 frame version from 2015/16ish.
Worth trying a cheap stem with a big rise on it before you ditch the Pro6? You should be able to raise the bars as much as a long head tube with an upwards pointing stem.
Had a pro6 and loved how much fun it was on singletrack but riding all day on mix of road and gravel did feel beaten up...put it down to its a racing cx bike and the rear triangle is as rigid as rigid can be ...I got some improvement in comfort with a specialized cgr seat post and Ti rail saddle as to front end no idea but running a redshift stem on my on one Bish Bash Bosh not cheap 1980's tech but actually works meanwhile not a lot of QR bikes out there nowadays? [Whativegot]older sonder Camino al which is QR in current madness I see not got stock of frames for sale but mk2 with thru axle leaves £200 towards a thru axle wheelset ? Anyway a bump
