Any doable trails for gravel bikes in the Borrowdale area? I'm in Keswick for a couple of days and was wondering if theres any suitable off road riding for a gravel bike in that area, in particular the B/P from Grange to the Honister path...

You'd be better looking at the area behind Skiddaw towards Caldbeck. The BW you mention would be "interesting" on a gravel bike.

If you mean the track that goes behind Castle Crag, then I wouldn't have said it was a good choice for a gravel bike. Quite lumpy in places. It's fine from Grange to Castle Crag, mind you, and you might be able to find another way through the woods via Rosthwaite.

The BW which runs from Hawse End towards Grange on the side of Catbells is very smooth for the most part.

Plenty of forest roads in Whinlatter that would be ok on a gravel bike.

Also forest roads round and up Dodd.

An out and back of langstrath would be cool (valley on credits of countryfile).

Braw.

Thanks for the replies guys. Think Whinlatter & the b/p on the side of Catsbells sound like good options for me.

You can come back from the cat bells BW along the fp on the west shore of derwen****er, perfect gravel bike terrain, just be sensible and polite to walkers. A ride I did on cx bikes was along the west shore path, back along cat bells bw and round to the bw on the west side of catbells to little town, along the road back to stair and then the fp along the river to Braithwaite, then along to Thornthwaite for a forest road climb to lords seat summit. Cracker!

TomB has given me some corking routes over the last few years, I'd do as he says, even though I've never ridden that route! 😊
