I struggle with my hands, pins and needles etc. Often ave this on any bike so it's physical not just bike fit do a trip to the doctors is needed anyway, various padded gloves made no difference. I've tried double wrapping with FSA foam tape but it's soon compressed to no cushioning. I know lizard skins 3.2 gets good reviews but wondering about these gel pads which presumably won't compress. Don't mind bulkiness.
I've got some Spesh gel pads I don't use anymore you can have to try if you like, for the cost of a couple of quid into a charity tin of your choice.
One of the nice things about the DSP tape is that it always has a sort of tacky feeling. That means you don't need to grip the bars so tightly and makes longer rides a lot more comfortable.
I suffer from the same problem as you but made worse by having difficulty retaining potassium. I've found this tape to be fantastic

Evans do a nice tape with silicon pads you can stick underneath. Definitely more comfy than just tape alone, but make sure not to wrap it too tight or you'll squash the padding!
Specialized Phat tape is good and comes with the pads. If you want to go big get some Cinelli gel pads and Selle Italia Smootape XL, 5mm thick. 🙂
I've got the Fizik gel pads ( http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fizik-bar-gel-2-set/) on mine and think they're great. Was having a lot of trouble with losing sensation in my fingers, but the pads have cut that out.
Bar tape shall be Lizard Skins DSP. In black.
That is all.
Hmm... I use the fi'zik gel pads with the textured microtex fi'zik bar tape - this gives a nice comfortable and grippy set-up. For a period I used a smooth tape but I had issues with confidence with keep a solid hold on the bars - so it went, and back to the microtex fi'zik tape.

- it's good/thick stuff. 1mm thicker than std tape, used it for a while with some trimmed sections of the gel padding. The tape itself compresses after a year of use like most but it's great for off-road drop bar bikes imo, the gel seems to outlast a couple of wraps of tape. This tape lacks that grippy surface of some other stuff but tbh I prefer the feel of the trad tape, it will be a bit less grippy in the wet though.
Also ime could be worth looking at your position on the bike - I had some nerve issues in my hands a while back and no amount of padding will resolve a problem that comes from a position that's putting too much weight through your hands in the first place.
