You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just had the best day out. 140Km with 2500 Metres of climbing nearly all on gravel roads and only saw about 5 cars all ride.
Started out with breakfast, rolls and cakes at 68K. More provisions provided at 80 something and at the end swapped the Brevet card for a beer, baked potatoes cheese and beans. Of course tea and coffee at every point for thirty quid. Thirty quid!
Lots of CX bikes. Mountain bikes, road bikes not to mention some bizarre Moulton thing. Everything from peddling hipsters to gnarled old buggers with limbs of Teak.
Much awesomeness.
Sounds great.
I used to ride Audax alot in the 90's, and would love to have events based on gravel roads now.
Just don't have the interest for the conventional audax events on the road these days.
Any pics?
Pictures would be nice.
There are a couple of good ones down here in Tassie.
The ASH (Annual seven hills) Dash, 210km & some brutal climbs. The lighthouse run on Bruny island is another good one, 140km & about half gravel.
The problem is, most of the others are dull as dishwater.
No photos I am afraid. There was a photographer out and about around the course so if they appear somewhere I will link to them.
There seems to be a whole series of them down here in Victoria. This is the second one I have done and it is very much my event of choice now. Lot of the boys have gone to the Bright 24 hour. They do not know what they are missing.
Got some pics from a mate:

What's the route? I'm doing the Giro della Donna in a couple of weeks, which has a great gravel stretch but is 90% road. Then thinking of heading up into the Snowies. Always keen to discover new gravel roads!
