Hi All

A few friends rode the GR5 a couple of years back and loved it. This year we were thinking about the GR10 or GR11, but struggling to find much info on riding it. Found one thread on this forum which says parts are illegal and would be too much hike-a-bike, without the riding to justify it. So maybe it's a no go...anyone else had any experience?

Any suggestions for other long routes would be great - approx 1 month's riding, somewhere in Europe in July/Aug/Sep time. I've done a (very) little bit of walking in the Dolomites and round Lake Como, and heard there's some great riding round Lake Garda - anyone know of any long routes in these areas? Open to any ideas at all basically!

Had a quick search on Google but it's always good to get first-hand info from people who've actually done routes themselves - and most reports I've found so far have been from walkers.

Cheers

yo mr platt,

i guide transalp tours in the summer from bavaria to Lake Garda and sometimes Como. plenty of routes across the alps; north to south (ending at Lake Garda or Como) or east to west.

you can pick fairly light, imo, boring tours if all you want is scenery or something more full on.

the riding at Garda is generally quite full-on. baby boulders galore. steep technical and loose.

email in profile if you want more info...
