I have a TomTom Adventurer watch that is approx 3yrs old & the battery has started to die on it, lasting about 3hrs before dying.
They've quoted me £90 to replace the battery, the watches themselves are £170 brand new.

Is this similar with other watches of this ilk? Wondering if I should keep it, or if I should look at something new...

If you know someone with a blue light card, you'll get a garmin vivoactive 3 for about 110-115 dependant on colour. You'll get 3 days with 2 hours a day GPS use, or about 12 hours constant GPS.

To be honest I think even without the blue light card that would be better value...

My Polar Vantage watch does 30 hours of continuous GPS + optical HR before needing a charge. Just using HR measurement 24/7 it lasts about a week between charges.

I had a tom tom sports cardio watch. Replaced it with a Garmin Vivoactive 3 from the recent PSA. Charging once a week rather than once every other day.

Normally record some sort of activity every other day, varies from a 30 minute run to a 3 hour bike ride.

Had a Vivoactive 3. Lasted 2 years and 4 months but battery life got worse and worse. In the end it needed charging every four hours (no gps and the most economical settings I could find). Garmin wanted £99 to fix/replace with a like for like. So I bought a 4 in the sale. Warranty is for 2 years so I really should have warranted it when the battery life started getting bad.

I've had a Vivoactive 3 for a couple of years and it's been great, however lately I've starting doing much longer outings and was beginning to push the battery life so used that as an excuse to get a Fenix 5.

Of course turning off stuff on the Vivoactive would probably have had a similar effect but SWMBO doesn't know that!

Garmin Forerunner 245 is an option for good battery life. Can do 24 hours with GPS and heart rate. And still pretty slim and lightweight, not too expensive.

Though much shorter battery life if you want music, with Bluetooth headphones. Only about 6 hours.
