I use Strava to log my rides and keep my better half informed as to my riding whereabouts (she worries that I'll do myself a mischief somewhere remote and need a medevac!)
Recently however the GPS on my Samsung S8 (running Android 9.0) keeps switching off after about 20m. I don't notice because my phone is tucked away in my waist pack/bum bag. It seems to only do this with Strava, if I'm using Google Maps in my van I have no problem.
I've checked settings and as far as I can see Strava has permissions to use location services.
Has anyone else had a problem like this, and if you have, how did you solve it?
My Huawei used to do this as well. Have a look under the power management/Power saving settings and set Strava to "manual".
It’ll be to do with power saving and putting the app to sleep after a certain time. Go to Settings, Apps, Strava, Battery and check optimise battery usage
You have to make an exception for Strava in the battery saving settings
Johnnystorm +1.
Every once in a while it still has a gps hissy fit but that's mostly cured it for me too.
