Hi
Memory map doesn't, but I need to be bale to load a track rather than a route as my Garmin 705 gets all confused as I dare to go away from the road network (even with all the settings turned off. Its amazing how it seems impossible to set this thing up to follow waypoints directly, rather then trying to be helpful.
So I am hoping to find some software that will let me do just that as Trailzilla sends me up the wall
Any suggestions?
I've got parallels on my mbp. Mainly for CAD software for work but handy to get memory map working too. Shame it's not native.
Hmmmm, not sure I want to go that route.
Is there noby else that does It?
Strava now has a route thingy - still in beta, but its okayish
Viewranger online thing will do that ok. Just switch auto-route off.
I'm now getting really confused as the edge 705 can use gpxx format.
What was wrong with a map.........and a heading......
Go into the options on the Garmin and under navigation choose direct. It sounds like it's set to follow roads.
What maps are you using on the Garmin?
On your Mac download Garmin Basecamp. If you use Basecamp with the Garmin connected to the Mac you can edit all the data on the Garmin, convert routes to tracks and vice versa, etc.
Have you looked at Route Buddy? They have Harvey and OS maps for sale, though not sure how prices compare to other mapping products.
I'm unclear if your problem is making a track or loading a track. If it the latter then try Load my Tracks. It's always loaded tracks fine onto my Garmin.
I use OS Getamap on Mac, it runs ok but the Microsoft silverlight that OS uses is rubbish. Also Getamap struggles with tracks with a lot of data points so it cannot upload a long ride, you have to find a specialist program to "thin out" the gpx file. I haven't used it for route planning but it can do it.
