Thinking of this as a possible security thing for the bikes....anyone else got some/used them? Seem a good idea...

Worth doing a search. Been covered a number of times.

It doesn't stop them nicking it, I haven't seen evidence they ever get caught with it, thieves are aware of these things so can easily just pop out the top cap where they usually are, and often bikes are quickly broken up and moved on (so you might get your fork back or wherever the tracker is, but not the rest). That's assuming it's not locked in a shipping container where the GPS won't work / GSM signal not available, or the battery hasn't run out. Add to that the cost of running the thing as you need to pay for a SIM, pay for data, and keep the thing regularly charged.
