Hi all,

Off the back of the lost car keys thread, where someone recommended a Tile to stop lost keys problem, got me thinking about GPS tracking for stolen bikes. Googling threw up a few options, with varying costs etc.

Anyone had any real world experiences of these things? Do they work well?

Cheers

I believe there is no good solution. There have been similar devices for things like boats. I had a Garmin tracker for my boat - worked well until Garmin discontinued the service, which peed me off as it cost me £300 !

The main issue is power, my tracker woke up when moved outside a determined area and then you could track it. But it needs power once the battery runs flat. That dosent take long.

I also used another device, which worked well till that company went bust.

But any solution needs power, batteries wont last that long. It also needs to be small, nothing seems to be small enough and last long enough.

Thanks Trimix. Did wonder about the power thing. Couple of years maybe.

See Sense - the smart bike light makers are supposed to be launching a bike tracker later this year
