So, just swapped out some 25mm GP4000 IIs for 25mm GP5000s and they are very different,

The 4000 come up at 28mm on my rims, whereas the 5000s come up at 23mm.

Is this normal, are the 5000s a bit on the slim side?

Looks like I'll have to buy 28mm is I want 25mm...

Alas, until Conti does tan/skin wall tyres, I will never know the answer to your question. 🙁

My 28mm 5000s measure exactly 28mm on 19mm internal rims. Conti have sensibly started using accurate sizing rather than making everything wider than stated so that they get better marks for comfort in tests and I hope everybody else does the same.

Well the two sets of tyres I've bought this year would suggest otherwise...

As luck would have it I have a 4000II on the front of my bike and a 5000 on the back, both in 25mm flavour on the same rims (23mm external, no idea internal)
4000II measures 27mm
5000 measures 26mm

My 32c GP5000s come up at 31 on a 17c internal Shimano rim. On the same rims, my previous 25c GP 4 Seasons came up at 26.

Well I have swapped the 25mm 5000s for 28mm 5000s and they come up at 26mm, so I've finally got to where I wanted to be. I now have £75 worth of 25mm GP5000 tyres which have done 100km to get rid of...

Yep, definitely narrower carcass.

GP5000 are closer to true width on my rims. Now if only they’d hurry up and make some 21c please.

I bought a used set of used 5000’s in 25c off eBay for about £30. There were 30 watchers and it was Buy it Now. They must have been peeved. The front was as new and the back a tiny bit worn. Sometimes it’s worth a punt.

Great with latex tubes. No idea why yours are so narrow, mine are bang on width for marking 25 and 23c. The 21c 4000’s are on three HED 3 trispokes with 19mm external width rims.

Can I queue up behind boblo if they go on sale? Might make a start getting a few grams off my Domane!

28mm GP4000S IIs fit my Cube Attain, they really measure very close to 32mm.

I've got a 23mm and 25mm GP5000 to fit and experiment with aero drag reduction (probably negligable), expecting them to be ~24mm/26mm wide max respectively.

Not sure if I'd dare buy a 32mm GP5000 for the Cube, but it could always be a posh front tyre for the Wazoo's 29er wheel if it doesn't fit the Cube!

I swopped out my tired GP4000sII's on my Defy at the weekend for GP5000s and noticed the same. Felt no difference when I rode them though 🙂

I also have a 5000 on the front, 4000SII rear. Both on the same 19mm rim at ~95psi

I just measured 29.5 front and 32.4mm rear
