You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Not sure if this is awesome or not... certainly unique, that's for sure! 2WD Mountain Bike!
Christini make a 2wd MTB with a custom White fork to transfer drive to the front.
That said, this chap's solution is no less innovative.
wouldn't be much good in a cross wind!
Weighs 15kg, unfinished. Jebus!
It's ingenious
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRmy eyes..................
I was hoping to see something interesting but that is just horrible.
That Yamaha system from a couple of years back was good.
Didn't GT do something similar a few years back
Maybe he's realised the front wheel will turn at a different speed to the back??
edit: Or it's a singlespeed and will never be able to take gears...
edit 2: On closer inspection, I think you have a choice of the three front rings.
s****...
'custom headset'
there is some serious engineering to do before that thing gets handlebars....
..although if you've only spent 99 aussie cents on your 15 kg frame, you can splash out a bit on the finishing kit....
Ah, fair dinkum! I love stuff like that. That's how things like the helicopter and bridges get invented, by some eccentric obsessed person tinkering around with ideas.
needs a woman me thinks,,,
then again, might be trying to get away from one 😆
Looks like an Orange 5...

😆
I think I'll bid on it. Get my son to pick it up.
There's been some interesting thinking gone into that.
I'd wager that the pictured battleship won't be able to turn right.
Which indeed would make it unique in both aquatic and cycling circles.
And why battleship? Because that thing needs launching off a pier...
Think of the scrap value.
what is it?

I'm with avdave2!!
On one hand I think fair play and good on him for putting effort into his invention. On the other hand I think it's the sort of vehicle that would by the looks of it be ideal to drop a person off at the local mental institute.
As someone mentioned above though the wheels are going to turn at different speeds.
nice.................not!
as its not driven off the back wheel...it will only be 2wd if its a 1:1 ratio?
brilliant
if it was in the uk though, i would buy that 🙂

Good work sir! You love you're weirdness eh? 🙂 I agree though, there is a lot of thought and work gone into it, wonder if you could make anything out of it in the end?
yes certainly is 'unique'
super big red text is a bad ebay sign as well...

I have a shed full of "interesting" bikes. Looks like junk to most people.
Current project is a recumbent folding Penny Farthing, so yeah, I like weird 🙂
I'm the leading bidder at the moment
If the wheels aren't running at the same speed, the one of them will want to spin and there will be a massive load on the drive train. Can you not get around this by setting up the ratios so that the front wheel always wants to spin faster than the rear, then use a free-hub type arrangement to absorb the wheel spin?

That's what I thought too.
I'm no engineer, but how would suspension forks work on the front with that design?
they wouldnt - chrisitni use a telecopic rod i think
hydraulic drive would make more sense
becky - its a new Trek prototype; its just that trek have forgotten to register the design - possibly.
Its got to have a freewheel on the front (although it could be on the take off from the crank i guess, if you were mental 🙂
Looks like I got the winning bid 🙂
I'll have to go get it now...
