If you mean Media Centre as in Windows Media Centre, it doesn't exist in W10. You'll lose that capability without shifting to another app.

Personally, I would go through the pain if I used the PC for more than just media. W10 is considerably more secure than W7 and that gap will open up.

PS, it's an in situ upgrade so nothing hard in theory. Good practice to have a full image backup in case it goes wrong.

You could try installing say VLC for video playback or KODI - you could try that now and see if they offer an alternative to WMS. There must be other apps. Personally I would generally try and find a non-Microsoft alternative for anything.

Biggest hassle we had with BIL's upgrade is his printer/fax/scanner stopped working despite supposedly having new drivers. There have been variois threads about the "upgrade"' causing pain althiugh its fair to say W10 has its fans here.

The only issue is that even though it says your system is compatable you may have to faff with some drivers and sone of your apps may be deactivated, basically YMMV
When i first upgraded i found that i wanted to gag Siri immediately, which fortunatly was not hard and after that i actually rather liked it. Win10 is faster than win7 and not utter crap like win8

And windows media player is in win10, but not all versions of it. Microsoft have just made it very hard to install windows media player on a non windows media player version of windows 10.
Windows media player is crap anyway, windows media player lite, vlc, Kodi are all better

Media Centre not WMP

Links from last year at the top of the search ranking ... I was too lazy to go back pages and see if there is anything newer.

There doesn't seem to have been a change of heart on the help page. Closest info is about Groove.
