Dear all, does anyone have any knowledge of the pass above grwyne fawr reservoir rather than going over the gospel pass? I will be passing through on an mtb tandem, but fully loaded with a 7 year old on a 7 day tour will this be epic? A overnight at the reservoir bothy could be fun.

Yes. Ask away. If you mean Y Das going up the old green lane past the Reservoir then that would be a bit interesting on a tandem. Not really recommended. There are plenty of places to camp around Gospel pass though. You are welcome to camp here on the way up the south ramp of the pass if you want
Saying that. I have no idea of the capabilities of a MTB tandem. You would certainly have to walk down parts of the north side of Y Das, especially the ZigZag, but the rest is merely steep and rocky with lots of drainage bars. OK on a normal MTB if you take it steady.

Ahh drainage bars the nemesis of a tandem! Sounds like it might be a bit much.
I'm aware in previous posts you've very kindly offered a camping spot, not least the now minor celeb tj! I hope I've not been tooforthright with my final cheeky comment (emoji or not!). That said a wee corner if we are passing towards the end of the day would be fantastic!
