Heading to the ac tomorrow will be racing open but also noticed they do age cats as well. Wondering about next race what cat is better for an average 30 something rider - open or master?
That depends on how quick you are. If you want to race with quick ex sport riders then head for Masters. Otherwise Open or Fun will be a little easier / less competitive.
Open has more variety in it, some very fast, some not so. They also do Super Masters and Super Vets which tend to get the really fast guys and hives the 'normal' masters and vets more space. Use the first race to get a lap time and as long as you can stay consistent you can work out where you might come in Masters. I'll see you in Open as its a more comfortable start time!
