You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all, I have the common 'what size' quandry, and was wondering if the Singletrack masses would be able to help.
I have finally settled on buying a Gore Fusion Cross windstopper jacket, but don't know what size to go for, and I can't find one locally. Has anyone got any experience of this particular jacket? It is supposedly 'slim' fit, but designed for MTB.
I am 5'10.5, about 13 stone, 42" chest and athletic build (i.e. no beer gut - yet).
According to the Gore size chart I am (just) in the XXL bracket based on chest size, which seems like nonsense to me. I tried on a Contest (roadie, slim fit) for which XL seemed about right, and a Phantom (comfort fit), which seemed a touch baggy in XL and a touch tight in L.
I generally don't like flappy clothes and err on the side of a slim fit, but my last pertex shell tore across the back, unfortunately.
Sailor V.
On the basis of that, I will go for an XL and report back...
For anyone that's interested, I tried this jacket on. Compared to the other Gore jackets I tried (the Contest and Phantom) the fit is odd, and did not suit me. It seemed overly large on the upper arms and the chest bagged out. It just looked a bit wrong.
The material seemed thicker/harder than the Contest AS Windstopper. I did not ride in it (sending it back) but suspect it might be less breathable than that jacket.
I have ordered a couple of other jackets to compare, hopefully I will only be sending one home...
