Anyone got any tips on how to improve the sound from a GoPro? Every single video I've seen/recorded sounds like the thing has been housed inside a crisp packet.
and then stick it out of the airflow somewhere, like in your hucksack.
Use the non-waterproof back door for a start...makes a huge difference.
I don't think you can use an external microphone with the GoPro, it doesn't have an input for it, and if it did the case would stop you plugging anything in.
(edit: seems the latest version has a port on the back for an external mic, my 18 month old 960 doesn't though.
using the short mount adaptors moves the back of the housing away from the chest mount, this will stop the clicking noise i hear on lots of go pro films,as spooky says above, the none waterproof door makes a big difference too..hth
Yeh I use a short section from the 'bag of mounts' to increase clearance to the chest mount, also means you can angle the camera higher to avoid your knees bouncing in and out of shot. Although I saw on here a few days ago, a lot of people run the camera upside down on the mount which solves that.
Cheers, I'll give the suggestions a go.
Still not sure for the in-car use though. As far as I can remember, I need to use one of the protective cases to mount it on the dash and the cases don't allow use of external mic. Instead of the glorious rotary bark, my car sounds like a beermat stuck through the spokes of a bike.
Are you using the little white clip ("locking plug") that came in the box? Without it there's some play with any of the mounts that clip in, and you get that horrible clicking noise as it moves back and forth.
As said though, avoid the waterproof back unless you need it, and you can either get a skeleton case with holes in the side, or drill yours to plug in an external mic. Or get a separate recorder and join it together in the editing software.
