Havent watched any of the Tour of California this year until last night and noticed what seemed to be gopro cameras mounted underneath the saddles of some of the riders bikes? However cant seem to find any footage of this anywhere - Was it broadcast at all?
cant see them guys wanting to add any extra weight
Surprised me too but it definitely looked like the cameras - noticed one on an htc rider and one on a saxobank.
yeah they are definitely doing it, they've got a attachment that goes into the fizik saddle bag clip thingy
was going to be shown live, but haven't watched enough coverage to see any footage...
definitely saw one under one guys handlebars too
Maybe for a documentary after the event? Possibly linked to the team cars rather than for broadcast purposes?
It's what cycling needs, like F1. Put cameras on everyones bikes so there's no complaints about weight (if everyone has one then it's equal) and get some footage from right in amongst the action. The motorbikes do a good job but pictures from right inside the bunch sprint would be amazing.
short clip on youtube now...rather impressive
that would be pretty sweet to have rider level footage especially in big sprints where you dont really get to see what arging a barging goes on. Also the big crashes that you usually miss on the footage you would get too see making for a better spectacle
A whole new perspective on the racing and good for viewing numbers 😀
I can't see camera weight being an issue, don't most teams have to put extra weight in the seattube to get the bikes up to 6.8kg now anyway?
