I find it hard to position my gopro to film so it looks like how it feels when riding. This is helmet mounted, I have a backpack and poke but the trees being all around me make it dangerous using the poke. Any other ideas?

Chest harness? The video is a bit 'looking at your front wheel', so switching to a chest harness would give a view that's more looking out than looking down.

If you're wearing a full face, you can get a mount to fit it to the side - I've seen a couple of folk using that, and it looks pretty good when it's positioned to give a rider's eye view of the trail.

It's 360 camera so chest mount shows more bike ,legs etc .I didn't like it as much as this mount but I feel like there's a way better way to mount it but can't come up with it

Chin peice mounts for full facers are supposed to give great results.

Think lower than lid mount but higher than chest won't improve it. Arrrghhh

Can you change the field of view so it doesn't?

360 cameras have their place, but whole videos filmed with them can get pretty hard to watch and enjoy.

I don't mind the angle on that TBH. Maybe try one with the camera angled further upwards to move the centre of the view up away from the bars?

Does the GoPro editing software allow you to crop out from the 360 view to something more conventional? (I think the Insta360 cameras/software allows this but not sure about GoPro).

For best results I think a standard lens on a chin mount is unbeatable. 360 is great for some situations, such as the video in the OP. Some youtubers also use it on top of the head as it's much better at showing particularly steep sections. I have an insta 360, but generally use the standard lens on a chin mount. I might use the 360 lens if I was in a train of people, but then I'd have it on top of my helmet.

If it’s a GoPro Max, you have the option to use it as a standard single lens camera with a wide field of view - might be worth experimenting with that to see if you prefer the images from that.

The above all seem better than my suggestion, but you could try shoulder-mounting (AKA 'Parrot mount'), see:

(~1 minute in - please excuse the ear hair! ugh!)

Completely tangential to the question, pointing the camera at the bike while riding gives (IMO at least) interesting shots too cut-into the main riding footage. eg:

and the last minute or so of the above video.

ETA: Thinking about it, the mounted-on-the-end-of-the-handlebar-pointed-at-the-front-wheel position might work well for the type of riding in the OP video?

Eldest had his on chin_cam. It's really smooth but gives very little bars/hands/arms, while moving to a high chest seems to give more movent of the bike under rider. This is what he uses now, and moves it from crotch_cam to sternum_cam depending on the ride.

I. Thinking a forward mount diagonal from helmet either front or behind may work
