Just got a new GoPro camera for Christmas. Are the mounts that are on eBay any good or should I just get the genuine one from a shop.

Thanks

You know what you're getting with the gopro ones. eBay ones are pretty variable quality.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

Someone spent a lot of money on your camera, imagine how gutted you'd be if, after a blistering ride captured on film, you look to turn the camera off only to see it's gone!

Chest mounts give a good perspective BTW. I quite like helmet side mount too. Bar mount, forget it unless you ride along the road, topof helmet mount just looks odd When viewed back, IMO.

I've had some good mounts (alu k-edge copy, and sucker mount, and alu screws) from deal extreme (dx.com) great value if you can wait for the shipping. I tested out the k edge go big mount clone on cannock last week and was impressed!

I also have the official gopro chest mount.

Genuine GoPro mounts are rather poor quality in my opinion (and I have quite a few), they are also quite expensive. The bike mounts especially are quite brittle plastic. K-edge are good but very expensive.

I've been using GoPro kit for years and although plastic the handlebar mount is pretty good. I've used in on my bike and kayak.

Despite being plastic it is tough. No issues to date.

I've bought a few mounts form enay in the past and to be honest the fit hasn't been good. The cameras never quite clicked in correctly. A mate of mine has some made in this country, CNC'd and they are perfect ( http://www.unsponsored.co.uk/press/?p=6771)

Ive got lots of GoPro related posts on my kayak site - http://www.unsponsored.co.uk/press/?cat=27 many will be of use to all GoPro users.
