I've been thinking about a GoPro for a while - but been holding off as I've read some pretty bad experiences relating to the firmware and the camera failing/freezing up.

Given that they released a new version of the firmware last week - has anyone updated and found this to have fixed the issues, or is it too early to tell?

Didn't know they had released it, will update mine. The freezing/random stopping of recording is pretty annoying, but not a show stopper.

I haven't had any of the problems people have mentioned, therefore I haven't updated the firmware yet!

Is freezing not due to an overly large SD card? Are you running a 64Gb?

Brand new Hero 3 camera here. I did the firmware update as soon as I got it and I've had zero problems on two rides so far. 32gb class 10 card.

GoPro hero black 3. Fried my sandisk ultra 64 GB micro SD card last week. The card's going back to Sandisk for warranty replacement. firmware was up to date (10 days ago). Going to try 32 gig card & see if there's any ongoing issues. Thanks for heads up, I'll check firmware.

Silver here - no issues after updating the firmware just after getting it a couple of months ago.

I think the Black might be a different story though.

Update (see previous post above): SanDisk have replaced my Ultra 64GB Micro SD card under warranty. In the meantime I purchased a San Disk 32 GB replacement.

I posted a review on the GoPro website's 64 GB SanDisk card section (they sell them), listing my issues. GoPro support emailed me out of the blue, they'd read about my problems. Offered to talk me through a manual firmware upgrade and then let me know there was another firmware update: released 23/04/13 (v.2.39). Thumbs up for GoPro support.

So new firmware upgraded, 32 GB card in place. I'm going to run it at Cwmcarn tomorrow and see how long it keeps going.

Not even used mine yet but good to know the support is good. I have a 64GB card for it as well!

Only had support like that from QNAP for my NAS before.
