Why alternative?

any thoughts on these
Drift HD 720 Helmet Cam

Yeah, you're far more limited in terms of mounting options but very good as helmet only cam.

Mtbr and dirt magazine seemed to like the higher spec drift ghost - but not sure about the 720 version. For a lower spec, I was looking at the Contour Roam2 as an alternative, looks like quite a versatile unit, but maybe not quite as easy to use as the drift cams.

im going to order the drift ghost hd on wedsnesday. The price is good, once you consider the included accessories. For 349 i'm getting the camera, external mic, suction cup mount, bar mount, spare battery, helmet mount, carry case, helmet mount and a remote control.

That's good value compared to the go pro black. Also, it's less bulky. This is handy if you're in tight woodlands or elsewhere where the camera may get caught on something and stop you in your tracks/fall off.

Video footage looks pretty similar between the two on the settings i'll be using. I'm not interested in super high definition slow-mo images. 🙂

Had my first play with my new Go Pro yesterday. I bought the Silver one and I'm really impressed with it so far. Dead easy to use and the video quality is excellent. I need to work on my render settings to maintain the quality but I'm very impressed so far and the mounting options make it the best option in my opinion

there's some camera called the "Foolish" by some firm (Nilox?) that i've seen somewhere.

quality is supposedly pretty good and is very similar in design to the GoPro, but with an easier to use interface.

anyone have more info on that?

Decathlon have their own branded one too: Camera link

No idea of quality yet, waiting for some other people to try it out first.

There are several brands that sell the same Decathlon one. video is very good, overall product quality not so much. I got a free one, it basically stopped recording sound, got another and it did the same. Shame though, as there are lots of mounts available (including chest) and they often come with an LCD screen and remote control as standard.

I believe GoPro have also started legal action against the design.....
