Hi all,
Having a darkside to Peterborough in the morning as a mate has an appointment at the passport office, so a couple of us are joining him and making a day of it, and i was wondering if anyone knew of a good/friendly bike shop that we could have a nose around and that? Oh also any recommendations for a good place for some lunch tomorrow,
cheers everyone and have a good night

The only bike shop I know of in Peterborough is Exclusively Bikes in Stanground. No idea what it is like but when they order from us they are always very friendly and polite.

Best shops are a bit out of town. Terry Wrights in Market Deeping or Rutland Cycles 20m down the A1. Nothing in town centre.

Terry Wrights - my first 3 spd racer came from his original shop when he was trading out of his living room

Terry Wrights or Rutland. There is a pub on the way to Rutland Water - The White Horse in Empingham - great beer and food.

Peterborough - get in and out as quickly as you can. Go to Stamford - much nicer and if you could get in to Jims Yard for lunch you'd be a very happy bear indeed.

Friendly? Peterborough?!? Does not compute...

The only good cycling pretext for visiting is the BMX track and your on a road bike....

If you enjoy your trip, why not try Beirut next... should be a lark.

If not too late... Bristowes at Orton Waterville. Propa bike shop. Ask for Dave Coxhead - builds great wheels.

I was going to say Bristows, but not really big enough to have a nose round. Got like 5 bikes in there. Windmill pub nearby is nice for food tho since the refurb.

Thanks all found a really good tea shop opposite the passport office, definate recommendation for that one as for food we ended up at The (Old) Montagu in Barnwell, on the suggestion of a vicar we met in Peterborough, and have to say top place excellent food and good selection of local 'mud' beers, didn't do bike shops in the end, but did get a rather pleasant 110+ miles in today, now for a bath and some more beers, I think I've earnt it!!
