My experiment with cheap eBay flat pedals ended this week in three parts - a complete pedal, an axle and a pedal body. None were connected. 🙁
What's the current 'good' pedal / sale offer?
(And of eldest_oab can choose, in orange)
El plastiques from superstar ?
Depends how cheap really. Loads of those coloured plastic ones about that get ok reviews. I've got some Wellgo mg1's that are going strong and are pretty grippy. very light too as they're magnesium. A quick google suggests they're available for about £25
My other bike has 'exotic' alloy pedals (bought from carbon cycles). They're a little heavier than the mg1's but are a bit grippier. Said to be stronger too. £33 is the cheapest I can find them.

Are Superstar still doing the discount code for Nanos, before the next generation hits their warehouse?
I use the plastic ones from carboncycles/ disco brakes and had no problems on three bikes over 18 months inc my DH bike
Big fan of the Horizon plastics here, they're as good a pedal as I've ever used and they cost me £35 a pop- I choose them over my vaults frinstance. I've tried the cheaper plastics like the el plastiques and they're OK, and the metal Nanos are very good too.
Possibly daft question from someone who hasn't kept up with bike trends in the last 5 years: what is the advantage of plastic pedals? I remember when they started appearing I thought they were for street/park and grinding, is there any reason to choose them over metal for mountain biking on mountains?
DMR V6.
Those carboncycles ones will last.
@gregb- yes cause they’re light and sharpen over a few good rides to provide extra grip.
Plus they’re fairly tough and meant to according to marketing bumph “not get caught up on obstacles”.
I managed to get some orange Nukeproof Electrons for £24... 😀

It's just a light, cheap, strong enough material. I don't think mine (Horizons) are as outright tough as similar alu pedals I have, but they're also way lighter- I reckon they compare well with magnesium alloy bodies at a fraction the price. If I was building another dh bike I'd probably stick metal nanos or similar on it though
