You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hiya, I'm taking a group round the Tweed Valley a week Saturday, and was just wondering if anyone was at the Golfy over the weekend? What's open/shut? I'll be checking it out myself this coming weekend, but any info appreciated.
Cheers!
Staying away currently as are many of the people I speak to. Although there were some folk running Community Service, Flat White, Jaw Bone and Feed the Pony today. There are a few new trails at Inners that are well worth checking out, off the uplift road side, and Thornylee is running well too.
Go ride angry sheep. And repeat.
Cheers. Was hoping to do an Inners/Golfy/Glentress monster route for these guys on the Saturday, so just a few trails at the Golfy will be enough, then climb up to the mast at Glentress to finish. SDA Race at Inners that weekend too.
Was at Thornylee myself yesterday, running really nicely. Hoping to save that for the Sunday.
What's up with the golfie trails? Blown out from overuse? Surely they can't be sloppy still!?
What's the riding at Thorneylee like?
Am riding somewhere along the tweed valley tomorrow, just popped on here for input as to where's best. Apologies for the thread hijack & thanks for any advice...
Cheers
Chris

Lots of thinning/felling- it's knocked out the main climb and the ways around it are fairly horrendous. It'll probably do the trails some good tbh and the contractors have been protecting the trails as much as is practical
Chris, Thornylee is pretty rough with a couple of flow trails out of 5ish total, the others get pretty steep and techy quickly, no where near as manicured as golfie. Worth checking out, it's getting ridden more now Golfie is having a break.
TBH what Thornie could do with is just one damn trail on the west side that goes to the bottom without falling off a cliff 😆 I keep riding the top stuff and thinking "person X would LOVE this" and then getting further down and thinking "person X would literally die if I brought them here"
But it is bloody good. If you go on a warm dry day I always think it's like suddenly being in a different country, it rides and looks and smells different somehow.
Thanks guys, so having not ridden here before what do I need to tick off? I've got 2 maybe 3 day passes during a week's stay in Tweedbank. Happy to drive as far up towards Peebles as necessary...
Also, My local riding at home is Hebden Bridge. Will I die?

Main climb all clear on Saturday apart from the push up to the reservoir but just a case of going down past Old Skool DH and using the push up from the corner.
Ah grand- it was closed just before community service before
Can second Thornielee although watch you don't do the Pro route on your second go as you will scream like a little princess (well that's what I did. YMMV)

I did this last weekend. Did angy sheep and date night at inners, flat white at the golfie, then 5 year plan plus some others at GT.

Only if you count an average gradient of over 25% a cliff... 😆 😮
Also re closures, No.1 Cafe had a little map up showing closures. They're riders too, so pop in for a flat white and ask. Don't just go in for trail guidance, that's crass - they do a good coffee and lunch.
Was at the Golfie Yesterday, still sign's up for no access just before Community service, Went down Community service and flat white both dry and dusty.

Lol, that's exactly what I think about Thornilee as well. Hasn't stopped me taking person X there though!
And the great thing is someone has addressed the falling off a cliff concern, there is now a trail all the way to the bottom that stays at a sensible gradient, the most westerly new trail now has a bottom section that is really flowy and not steep.
