We took a roadtrip for a long weekend based at Glentress a week ago, riding Glentress and Golfie.
It was only the second time riding Golfie and we wished we’d not bothered with Glentress on Friday and had an extra day at Golfie.
We’re already planning our next trip for a few weeks time. Can’t wait to be back.
Anyway, here’s a little video I put together from the trip, if anybody is interested. Just gutted, like always, that it doesn’t show the true gradient of some of the descents.
Just come back from there myself - if you haven't hit the off piste stuff at Glentress you need too - enjoyed it all most as much as Golfie!
Aye, defo, GT stuff is every bit as good as Golfie, and tbh I enjoy it more as I get a bit pissed off winching up that fire road all the time, whereas there's some nice climbing at GT.
Edit - dreadful music, get off the brakes a bit, and tie dye? 🙂
Yeh, we’ve ridden a lot of the off-piste at GT over the years but Golfie has proven to be really refreshing with new (to us), steep, techie descents.
The scenery is amazing and we didn’t even mind the climb. It’s an easy spin and we could have a good natter.
10 of us headed over from Norn Iron a few weeks back. One of our gang was from the area and we met up with his bro for a tour. No idea they spoke a completely different language to us though. Flow in Scottish means steep as **** and littered with hairpin bend. Their clocks are weird too - a 2 minutes climb lasts at least 10 minutes 😀 Our token scot summed it up well - over here we're obsessed with big gap jumps - the bigger the better. In Scotland it's sheer cliffs - the steeper the better! Can't recall all the trail names but flat white and angry Sheep were so much fun to ride. Sheep one especially. Date night and second date - not so much :O
Hats off to the builders - bloody awesome trails 😀
Did you have that music on in the van on the way up?
Nice video. I really need to make the trek up the there. Just one thing though, semi slick, rather you than me 😉
Slicks are fine, especially given how dry the valley has been of late!
Just don't go calling Angry sheep a steep trail 😀 Date Night/Second Date and Prospacker are some of the best on the inners side.
the steep trails are pretty flowy... Once you learn to let go of the brakes a little!
Dj Sakin & Friends 🤙🏻
Enjoyed that 🙂
Enjoyed that video
Thanks for the positive comments guys.
No, we didn’t have the opening song on whilst travelling up but we did when we came back from Fort William and thought it would be quite fitting. Love that tune!
The steep stuff was so much fun. We didn’t get on Date Night but we’re back in a few weeks so I’ll look it up. Thanks for the pointer 🙂
Date Night and Second Date are absolutely brilliant trails!
Date Night and Second Date are absolutely brilliant trails!
They are indeed. Just not what we're used to riding. Everyone enjoyed them but no one was beaming "let's do that again!' (though i'd imagine a few runs down them and you'd get a better feel for them). We weren't mincing like the OP either 😛 Regardless 'Flowy' still isn't a word i'd use to describe them - 'brakey' is more apt 😀
if you want flow.. try ixs-cresta-new gold end. Thats a seriously fast and flowy set of trails
