You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
2 things sure to make traditionalist Singletrack readers blood boil!
It's my turn to arrange a 50 something lads weekend away. Will be about this time next year. A couple of us are cyclists and a few more are golfists. Anywhere that the Venn diagram will overlap nicely? Somewhere with a bit of nightlife of the restaurant and bar kind for the evening. Doesn't have to be blazing sunshine (hence not Canaries by default), just so long as it's a bit warmer than Blighty. Portugal or southern Spain would seem logical, but if anybody has any specific recommendations it'd be appreciated.
50 something lads
That’s quite a crowd 😀
You know what I mean 😂
Malaga would seem a good bet, find a decent golf resort and then hire bikes from Escapada Cycling. We used them earlier in the year staying just to the east of Malaga. They will deliver to your hotel and there’s plenty of decent riding around. Golfers I know seem that rate Malaga for trips away.
We just got back from Murcia, South East Spain. If you are near an airport that flies to RMU / Corvera it is worth a look.
Mar Menor Golf Resort near Torre Pacheco / Los Alcazares is probably your sweet spot. Specifically what they call MM2 (newer bit near gates).
Golf on site plus 3 other courses nearby plus another few within 30 mins by car.
Cycling group from the resort 2/3 times a week.
Los Alcazares is a few km away and has a cycling club good for weekend rides.
2 X bike hire firms based on resort, one of which ( https://etiquettecycling.cc/) does guided road routes including Sierra Espuna (lost count of hairpins!) and local tour routes on hybrids (which end in wine tasting or similar).
On resort you have a couple of bad restaurants but a good bar. Just outside there is a boulevard with 5 restaurants and few more good bars.
If you want more a taxi into Los Alcazares is cheap and there are some superb restaurants and a couple of really good bars.
Happy to help if you want more info.
boombang that is sounding ideal. I'll do some digging and be in touch for further info. Many thanks.
No problem at all. There are plenty of places around with similar offerings, at some point it comes down to how easily you can get there I guess.
Port Pollensa ?
How do you play Golf on a road bike?
