But this is a question more about the cafe.
I don't want to be carrying a lock around when on the trails and will be cycling to the trails so won't have a vehicle. How safe is it to go into the cafe and leave the bike outside?
Any advice experience?
Or should I just take a packed lunch?
Loads of folk dump their bikes outside the cafe, be sensible and keep it where you can see it, there have been a few thefts in the valley over the last couple of years. The quality of the cafe food is another point entirely...
Top tip - drop into Forsythes in Peebles and get yourself a lasagne pie instead.
Packed lunch at the top of one the hills.
You can see it from inside if you leave it sensibly. I just flip open the QRs and leave it in a massive gear when I park like that, stops someone just riding off before I've got to them if the worst did happen.

Every time I do this I forget so I just keep an eye on it these days!
Lock the lock to something solid at the cafe area, ride the trails with the key.
Enjoy your packed lunch on one of the benches or shelters on the trails....
I tend to just put it where I can see it, secure in the knowledge there are far nicer bikes than mine next to it
go to Nashy's down the tweed cycle path, food is better and you can have a go on the Cardrona pump track too
I've left a bike outside the cafe on numerous occasions without a lock. In fact I've never seen anyone lock a bike there.
Its all windows and no one locks.
As hinted above though. Its grim foodwise.
Nashys in cardrona or Number1 in Inners or a picnic.
Alternatively i can do you oven chips and watery chilli for £5.50 and deliver it to buzzards nest for you...
Ah I like the chili and chips. Helps that I'm always starving when I eat there!
May be going the packed lunch route based on the comments on the food rather than the security then!
Thanks everyone for the comments.
