I am taking my bike to ride while my family skis. I brought some winter road tyres as well as gravel and snow tyres.  Does anyone have any experience of riding in the alps in the winter?

I always take my ebike so I can take the dog out for a good walk in the morning and board in the afternoon. Just on standard tubeless MTB tyres with the pressure dropped to around 10 PSI.

Works great

Where/how high are you staying?

With the increasing snowline altitude, last year a bunch of my mates who live in Bourg St Maurice were skiing Saturday (changeover day when it’s quiet) and doing funicular laps on bikes on Sunday from Arc 1600 down to BSM. Looked like a nice way to live your life.

These are the sacrifices I make for the little dude!
Also, I know some pretty secret powder lines.

I've spent several weeks at a time in the southern Alps, usually mid Jan to mid march. There has always been opportunity to ride, on road and some off, especially in the queyras.

Big dumps get cleared off pretty quick from the roads but be very wary of shaded corners

South facing sides of valleys also had glorious clear balcons which are joyful in winter sun and dry surfaces

Watch out for pine processionary caterpillars crawling along trails in big groups. I've seen loads on trails, they would really spoil your day if one flicked up in your face!

"There's no dogs on powder days" or something like that...
