May be an obvious question but I'm a bit clueless about these things.
I want to try a 1x10 drivechain, using my xt triple I plan to remove the inner ring, replace to 32t middle with a 34t and remove the 44t outer.
Will this work?
Will I need a to use a bash ring in place of the 44t ring to ensure the new middle ring is fastens properly or can I just use the existing chainring bolts without a bashring, perhaps with spacers?
Any advice wold be welcome

Ta

It will work fine. You can use a bash ring and existing bolts. If you run without a bash you'll need some shorter chainring bolts.

Just buy a set of short chainring bolts eg E13 ones on crc. It's a 10 min job.

Or use existing nut and bolts and cut them shorter.

There will be no going back. I went 1x10 with 32t up front, def the way to go. Love it. Enjoy!

This ^^^^^

You will need some kind of chain keeper. I used the front derailleur for a while with the limit screws adjusted, before buying a chain device.

Hi,from experience dont waste your money on a 32,go either 34/36 with a chain-device of some kind. 🙂

Yep, shorter bolts are needed and a chain device is an absolute must! You can use a front mech but if you want a proper device then I'm using a Superstar one and it cheap and good. I went from 32 (normal) to a 34 Hope ring and it's perfect. Good luck and enjoy!
