Hi all

had a pretty bad crash a couple of weeks ago at Hamsterley which broke my nose and required over 100 stitches and probs plastic surgery to replace the parts of my nose that is still up there stuck to the rock 😀

I only had a half shell on as Was only on red and black routes and couldn’t fit my bt earbuds under my net parachute (lesson learned )

I have just also purchased a giro switchblade and have read that not all goggles fit.

I need a pair of goggles with a nose guard like fox airspc or dragon vendetta .   Just wondering if anyone has used any of these with a switchblade or can recommend any with nose guard that fits?

cheers

I have the Giro goggles (Blok, I think) that "go with" the switchblade.  No complaints

EDIT : apologies, missed the nose-guard bit.

Really struggle with goggles and non DH full faces, the profile of the gap is different so they don't sit the same and I've got a slightly bigger nose so they get forced down and stop me breathing through my nose.

I wear sunnies these days but a mate had the big nose compatible scots which were close but in no way cheap!!

Also what are you expecting the nose guard to do for you? If it doesn't deflect it's just going to hit your nose square on or is this to keep stuff out of the open wounds?

Hi mate.

Ive never ever tried goggles so don’t know what they are like.  I ripped a canny chunk of my nose off and only got some back.   I was unlucky and hit a rock  Square on with my big kenk 👃.

I know my nose would have been broke anyway but can’t help feeling like a nose guard may have stopped it ripping off.

I wont be doing any MTB riding till I’m healed as the wifey and work will knack me 😀.

Cheers

Ah OK, how much different is your nose to a normal one now? You might need to do a bit of surgery to the foam to get them comfy.

I've had the Met and now have the giro. both felt to me (with the shape of my face) that the goggles were pushing down my face onto my nose so not sure how that will play with you. Exactly the same goggles in 661/THE lids and they sit fine.

Hi mate I’m not sure what it looks like yet as they keep putting another dressing on😂.  Hopefully not be that bad as my nickname was voldomort for a little bit lol.   Loads of sympathy here 😀😀😀😀.

Try some 100% goggles, I believe one of their models has a bit of a nose guard too.

using the fox airspace with a switchblade, seem to work ok together but don't think they would be comfortable to wear for long periods. i only use the switchblade and the goggles when racing and quite often find i'm fiddling with the goggles before a stage start to get them comfortable, but then once into the stage don't notice them.

best bet is go into a shop with the helmet and try some on.

I use Oakley Airbrake goggles with my Switchblade.

If they fit in I'd think most other stuff would too as they're quite big.

Adidas backland dirt have a wee removable nose guard - might be worth a try so you can see how it feels with and without?
