What’s the current in favour budget wheelset? Non boost 27.5 Shimano Freehub all rounder? They will need to be able to take a bit of a battering but still not be anchors for all-dayers. Recommendations?

In my search for second hand 29 boost wheels, I would say you're spoilt for choice for second hand 27.5, non-boost wheels. 🙄

What he said, take advantage of the laws of supply and demand.

Is £50 + shipping budget enough for you? I've got some Giant 27.5 alloy wheels with shimano free hub. Used for 3 rides so as new, 100 x 15 front and 135QR rear. Send me a message if you want them.

Just popped in out of curiosity about what people think a "budget wheelset" is.

@dallas95 - thank you for the offer, I really appreciate it, but I need a 12x142 rear.

In terms of a budget wheelset... before this thread I was thinking £200 or so. Now I think I may need to dig a little deeper.

Hunts look really good but they are not very budget, does anyone have any experience of Neutrons?, I currently have Superstars but they do have some issues, I'll look at bikewheelsdirect. 2nd hand is an option..particularly for a set of Hopes.

I have the previous version of the neutrons, run them in all weathers and not had a problem with them.

Me too. I was half expecting a suggestion of Hunt carbon wheels as compared to Enve they’re a steal...

If Superstar are still doing 25% off then you'll get a set for 200 sheets. Really impressed with mine (they looked nice, bike is currently being built up by my local mechanic 😂)

Chosen Pro build wheels? About £225 a set although Merlin only have fronts in stock. Reviews seem positive.

Something at the lower end of DT Swiss offering wouldn't be a bad shout. I've ran a set of E1900 Spline briefly and they were good (got a set of 29" for sale actually!)

Mine would be the Pro Build wheels on Merlin, had them before on an old hardtail and they were great.

Those DTs look perfect. Now to see how Brexit has impacted this...

I went for the boost options a few weeks ago, absolute bargain. Just beware of DHL though as they left mine outside my back door of my house.
