Hi
I have bought the hero hd second hand, recorded footage 6,5gb saved to laptop. Downloaded go pros software to edit the footage but it always crashes during transfer??
Anyone use other better software?
Wanted to edit via iPad but I don't have enough space.
Also why does the footage superate into maybe 3 files when you stop recording when it's been continuously recording?
Thanks
Do you want to play or edit?
Play-wise VLC should do the trick on both ipad and pc.
I doubt you will be able to get any editing done on an ipad, they really aren't powerful enough. I would try and get to the bottom of why the app is crashing on your pc. It's very good for a free app.
Yes it's for editing, I will contact go pro.
Thanks
Yeah always worth uninstalling and then re-installing the latest version of gopro studio (I think there was new version the other day). And check you have the prerequisites like quicktime for example.

3 different file extensions? See here:

Video files over a certain size (about 4GB) are automatically split into single files.
I use a free software called Kdenlive. Unfortunately its Linux and mac only. Its as powerful as any normal user would ever need. Its the best free package I've come across by a long way. It does tend to crash every so often but automatically saves your work so not been a problem so far.
What do people make of iVideo??
Or whatver that Mac integrated software is??
(the one already on the Mac?)
tried Kdenlive but since I was not running a dedicated linux box I ended up with Adobe Premiere Pro on the subscription. Works a treat. I wouldn't want to be doing much High Def video work on a tablet really, probably melt....
Thanks chaps.
I have not tried editing on an iPad, however I have used iMovie on a Mac on the .mov video file. Even Quicktime Player on the Mac will playback and allow basic edits on the Mac. So if you have plenty of disk space on an iPad then you should be able to use iMovie to edit it.
