Thinking of getting a go pro - just to record some of my rides and to shares with a couple of mates. No sick edits or anything else required, just decent picture so I can see what’s going on, and easy to use / upload somewhere without requiring a degree in IT or 400 cables.

Are go pro still the default choice? If so which one would people recommend? Never looked into it before and find it a bit bewildering.

I see there are cheap alternatives but having been bought a cheap dashcam not sure it’s not a false economy for this type of thing, but remaining open minded as I don’t know much about this.

Also where do people mount them for best riding pics, helmet, bars or chest?

Sorry for the inane questions.

See if any of the cheap session 5 are available still? They were about £120 a few months back.

I never liked my full sized one but this fits under the helmet peak really well.

I did watch some old footage the other day when I had a chesty & this was really good, so I have ordered another one.

I sold my old gopro stuff a few years back in a rage when they introduced the pissboiling software update that forced a logon on your phone before you could use it.

But the session 5 was such a bargain i couldnt resist & by loading an older version & not updating it bypasses this annoyance.

I might be selling mine Go Pro session 5 if you're interested. I find it too distracting when riding so worried I'll fall off.

Eldest_oab bought Shimano Action Cam (£62 a while back) and it is a cracking little thing.

Just bought an Apeman Trawo for the kids to use on holiday and for me to use on the bike, if I fancy. No idea if it's any good or not, but it was a lot cheaper than an SJCam SJ8, Yi, or GoPro. It's arriving today, I can report back with initial impressions if you like...
