After a number of years of subjecting myself to riding with a standard head torch, I'm now looking at a proper front bike light.
Been looking at the Gloworm XS Adventure.
Seems to be getting good reviews and I like the fact it is USB chargeable and the battery can be used as a power pack.
Anyone had real life experience of these and can recommend?
I bought some Glowworm lights about 12 or 13 years ago. The battery pack died a couple of years ago and I had to re-solder a connection inside the light itself but they are still working away quite happily. Presumably the new ones are even better than the old X2's.
Great beam pattern and long run times, a plus vote from me...
I had a set of gloworm years ago (2015 I think) before I got my exposure lights.
The light was brilliant and would say as good as the exposure but I had issues with the cable where it connects to the light unit. At the time mtbbatteries were doing warranty repairs on them so had to send the light to them for repair a couple of times.
I’ve been running Gloworm lights for a while now - currently with an older version XS. Great lights, we’ll made and decent value - if I was buying new lights they’d be my first port of call
I had an X1 and X2 a good while ago and loved the light when they worked but i felt like somewhat of a beta tester!
Build was nice, optics and brightness was great.
Across the two lights I had every part fall from battery, cable, LED, driver and mounts! Mostly handled well with warranty or service but very frustrating.
It seems they have ironed out the quality, make sure you buy from a source with good support.
The new ones look good and the battery pack looks great.
We have 3 x2's and an x1 between me and my wife.
Only had one battery with issues in about 8 years. That was fixed by mtbbatteries for not much.
Totally recommend them
My experience of Gloworm lights is poor.
Good light when it worked, but cables and switch failed, battery case fell apart, and warranty was refused as they'd changed distributors.
I've had an original X2 for over 10 years with regular use. Battery is still going fine although the duration has dropped off a bit.
Only thing I've changed is the wiring loom on the head unit a couple of years back - supplied a new one by mtbbatteries for a few quid and soldered it myself.
Been very happy with it.
